Ann Campbell Senior Affiliate Consultant, Performa Higher Education
Ann Campbell is a Senior Financial Aid Strategist for Performa Higher Education. Ann
has 13 years of experience in all facets of student financial aid, including nine years
as an administrator in higher education at a private institution, three years as a sales
executive in the student loan industry, and one year as a financial aid consultant. Ann is
also a Certified Public Accountant with additional experience in accounting, budgeting
and auditing. Over the years Ann has worked closely with institutions to analyze audit
issues and assist with the development of predictive modeling. Ann earned her B.S. and
M.B.A. from the University of Alabama.
Lorna Duphiney Edmundson, Ed. D. President Emerita, Wilson College

Lorna held leadership positions at seven educational institutions in the U.S., Japan and France, serving as president, chief academic officer, and founding director/fundraiser for innovative programs, the latter at Columbia University and the American University of Paris. Most recently, she served for a decade as president of Wilson College during a time in which the College revamped itsgovernance structures; surpassed its comprehensive campaign goal of $45 million; established the $25 million, LEED certified, Harry R. Brooks Complex for Science, Math and Technology; launched its Global Citizenship Initiative; and greatly strengthened Wilson’s brand. She has been recognized as an effective leader and facilitator of institutional change, helping public and private educationalinstitutions build on their distinctions, strengthen finances and planning, maximize resources, and forge strategic partnerships in the U.S., France, Japan, South Korea, China, and Saudi Arabia. She has been recognized for her work by receiving the Athena International Award, an Honorary Doctorate from her Alma Mater – Rhode Island College – and Lifetime, Honorary Membership in Rotary International. She was featured among leaders from Hong Kong, China, and the U.S. in Halpern and Cheung’s 2008 book, Women at the Top: Powerful Leaders Tell How to Combine Work and Family.
She served many organizations, including: the ACE Commission on International Education; NAICU/NAICUSE; Campus Compact; the Women’s College Coalition; the Association of Presbyterian Colleges and Universities; the Association of Independent Colleges and Universities of Pennsylvania; and the Vermont Business Roundtable. Currently, she is assisting several organizations in strengthening branding, strategic financial planning, fundraising, and international education, expanding the effectiveness of the International and NYC Women’s Forums and advancing goals for women’s education and economic status through Delta Kappa Gamma Society International and its NGO at the U. N. As a long-time trustee of Norwich University, she chairs the Academic Affairs Committee and serves on the Executive Board. She is also affiliated with Ann Duffield and Colleagues, L.L.C., developing research and scholarship in the process of serving public and private institutions throughout the U.S. Lorna especially enjoys assisting those who seek to strengthen their institution’s vision, visibility, financial situation, and plans for the future, ensuring that they will always have the capacity to deliver fully on their missions, despite troubled times.
She earned her doctorate at Columbia University’s Teachers College; her M.Ed. in Counseling at Boston College, and her B.A. at Rhode Island College. She completed the Columbia Graduate School of Business’s Executive Program in Accounting and Finance, served as a Visiting Scholar in College Teaching and Academic Leadership doctoral program at Columbia University, and was named a J. William Fulbright Research Scholar to Japan where she conducted research on the factors that prepare strong leaders in education, diplomacy, and development.
Gerry Francis, Ph.D. Executive Vice President, Elon University

In June 2009 Gerry assumed his current role of Executive Vice President at Elon
University. He came to Elon College in 1974 as an assistant professor in the department
of mathematics. In 1983, he joined the administrative ranks as dean of academic affairs,
and was later named vice president of academic affairs before assuming the position
as provost in 1994. As Provost, he managed the internal administrative operations of
the university and acted in the absence of the president. He provided leadership and
direction for the long-range planning process, the annual priorities for action, and the
budget. As Vice President for Academic Affairs, his responsibilities were wide-ranging,
but included: intellectual and administrative leadership of the faculty and academic
support staff, oversaw the development of the academic program and the assessment
of student academic performance, developed and administered the curriculum, and
developed and recommended the academic budget. Gerry has served as a member
of several different SACS Accreditation Review teams and a number of consulting
engagements. Gerry earned his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Appalachian
State University, and his Ph.D. in mathematics from Virginia Polytechnic Institute.
Doug Orr, Ph.D. President Emeritus, Warren Wilson College

Doug served as president of Warren Wilson College for 15 years at a time of
unprecedented growth and program development. He also serves as an AGB Consultant
and teaches at the CIC Annual New Presidents Institute. As such, he assists independent
college and university governing boards in becoming more effective, cohesive
and strategic in carrying out their responsibilities. He facilitates interactive board
assessment retreats with an emphasis on the importance of the board working within
the context of the distinctive institutional culture, legacy and mission. Doug also works
with the board leadership and the president in facilitating comprehensive presidential
assessments and presidential coaching.
Doug has served many organizations including: Council of Independent Colleges, North
Carolina Independent College and University Association, Association of Presbyterian
Colleges and Universities, and AGB Presidents Advisory Council. He has served on the
Board of Trustees at Berea College and the University of North Carolina at Asheville, is
Trustee Emeritus and chaired the Education Committee at Johnson C. Smith University
and has served as a Vice Chancellor and faculty member at the University of North
Carolina at Charlotte receiving the teaching excellence award. Doug has also been
recognized by the governor of North Carolina with the Order of the Long Leaf Pine
Award, has served as the Co-editor of The North Carolina Atlas: Portrait for a New
Century and is the co-author, with Scotland’s Fiona Ritchie, of the book in progress
Wayfaring Strangers: The Musical Connections of Scotland/Ireland and the Applachians.
Doug received his B.A. from Davidson college and received his MBA and Ph.D. from the
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Nan Perkins Vice President Emerita, Elon University

Nan was Elon’s Vice President for Institutional Advancement from 2000-2008, with
responsibility for all university fundraising, alumni and parents programs, marketing,
publications and public relations. During that time, annual cash giving from all private
sources tripled, and Elon successfully completed the $47 million Elon Vision campaign
as well as the planning and $60 million leadership phase of a $100 million campaign.
Nan served as a member of the President’s Senior Staff at Elon for more than 25 years,
from 1982 until her retirement in 2008, serving first as Director of Communications in
the President’s office. Subsequently she created Elon’s award-winning publications
department and headed the overall marketing program as Director of Publications and
Public Information. From 1989-2000, during the early years of Elon’s dramatic growth
in size, quality and reputation, she served as Dean of Admissions and Financial Planning/
Vice President for Enrollment Management. She also chaired the retention efforts
at Elon during a period that saw the freshman-sophomore retention rate increase by
10 percent and the graduation rate rise simultaneously. In 1989 she chaired Elon’s
Centennial Year Celebrations. Nan received a B.A. from Barton College and a M.A. from
the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
Robin Reynders Senior Affiliate Consultant, Performa Higher Education
Serving more than 20 years directly in the field of Financial Aid, Robin Reynders knows what it takes
to utilize all sources of aid funding to serve an institution and its students. At Allegheny College, Robin
learned the business of aid distribution as Assistant and Associate Director of Financial Aid, and built
upon that knowledge by integrating financial aid into a strategic enrollment plan, earning her the title of
Associate Dean of Enrollment. She later became Director of Financial Aid and implemented a successful
financial aid strategic plan to assist the Admissions operation, and Allegheny College saw great success
in enrolling students with greater academic profile at a controlled discount rate, thus increasing net
revenue. Robin began sharing her knowledge as a consultant in 1999 while she also continued to serve
Allegheny College through 2004, at which time she became a full-time consultant. Robin specializes in
financial aid operations, as well as the integration of the financial aid office into a successful enrollment
management program focusing on recruitment and net revenue. Robin earned her B.A. from Earlham
College.
