Developed over the past 9 months, with the assistance of Performa Higher Education, Hardin-Simmons University‘s Campus Master Plan includes:

  • Enhancing spatial organization to promote successful students and programs
  • Provides new campus spaces for student leisure, wellness, discernment, and collaborative social and academic experiences
  • Creates a  more pedestrian friendly environment

Malone University Seeks Vice President for Enrollment Management and Marketing

Malone University, located in historic Canton, Ohio, seeks an experienced, energetic, innovative Vice President for Enrollment Management and University Marketing.  The vice president oversees marketing, recruitment and admissions for all programs – undergraduate, graduate and professional studies.

Malone University is a diverse community of learners intentional in our faith, thoughtful in our discipleship, Quaker in our heritage, and ecumenical in our ethos as we strive to integrate our faith, our learning, and our experiential activism for the good of our students, society, and the church. Having just welcomed her 13th president in 120 years, Malone is poised to refine her vision and advance her mission with renewed vitality. The vice president will play a strategic role in this exciting season as a unifying leader on campus who drives new student marketing/recruitment strategies and results. Building on several years of strong enrollment growth, the new vice president will support the mission of Malone University and work closely with the academic leadership to further strengthen the University’s distinctive competitive position and bring new academic programs to market.

Reporting to the Office of the President, the Vice President for Enrollment Management and Marketing serves as the Chief Enrollment Officer.

The vice president’s primary responsibility is for student enrollment in all academic programs: traditional undergraduate, adult undergraduate, including degree completion programs, graduate, and workshops. Additionally, the VP for Enrollment Management and Marketing oversees the work of the Financial Aid Department and serves as the University’s chief marketing officer. (more…)

Private colleges and universities are not immune to the ongoing challenges of meeting students’ needs and promoting their persistence, satisfaction, and achievement. Recruitment and retention are, in combination, the keys to enrollment health on our private college campuses.

This PowerPoint presentation delivered at the SACAC Annual Conference by Joretta Nelson, Ph.D., Vice President and Owner, Performa Higher Education and David Lesesne, Dean of Admission and Financial Aid, Randolph-Macon College, highlights the most recent research related to improving student retention and provides practical recommendations for how Admission and Financial Aid staff can impact conditions on their campus.

Performa Higher Education is accepting grant proposals to fund doctoral student dissertation research up to $1,000.

We are interested in receiving requests for funding related to research studies focusing on small, private higher education in these broad areas:
-       Admissions/enrollment/college choice;
-       How students pay for college;
-       Retention/persistence of students;
-       Governance issues;

Everybody’s Worried Now

Enrollments Grow, but More Slowly

As the recession took hold of the U.S. economy in late 2008, Americans did what they often do in bad economic times: went back for more schooling. That’s why the last reportfrom the federal government about college and university enrollments showed a sharp increase (of 7.1 percent) in the number of students in postsecondary institutions in fall 2009. Reacting to the higher-education proposals President Obama unveiled last week, the leader of the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities said Monday that the organization was committed to “good faith” negotiations with the administration but would oppose any efforts by the federal government to encroach upon the independence of its institutions. David L. Warren, Naicu’s president, said that the proposals represented a “pivotal moment” for higher education and that “incredible consequences” hung in the balance.

A week after President Barack Obama warned colleges and universities in his State of the Union address that they were “on notice” to keep tuition increases in check or risk losing federal money, senior White House education adviser Zakiya Smith and three private college presidents will address higher education affordability on Tuesday, Jan. 31, at a panel session titled “College Affordability: Issues and Solutions.”
